= Installing Aegis = Before installing a new version of Aegis, ensure that the required databases are [[SqlBackup|backed up]]. Aegis makes use of the following databases: * EgClient * EgListBox * support * Sys Uninstall any previous versions of the Aegis client and server. Unzip the setup files into a temporary directory. The setup files are: . {{{ Aegis.zip Mdac.zip SupFiles1.zip SupFiles2.zip }}} The setup files can be found at {{{/u/apps/aegis7.12_setup/zips/}}}. Install {{{mdac_typ.exe}}} if the current machine does '''not''' have Microsoft Data Access Components 2.7 or later installed. Run {{{Setup.exe}}} and install the server component. Ensure that the server component is installed under a shared directory, so that any machines that need the client installed have access to this directory. '''Do this only if you are setting up a new Aegis server'''. Run {{{Setup.exe}}} again on each machine where you want the Aegis client installed. Select client installation, and when prompted, point it to the server installation directory specified in the previous step. For the current setup on maximizer, type in "\\maximizer\aegisserver" when it asks for the server installation directory Unzip the license file, {{{Aegissn}}}, which can be found in {{{/u/apps/aegis7.12_setup/zips/AegisLic.zip}}}, into each client directory. Copy the following {{{Aegis.ini}}} file into each installation directory as well. The {{{Aegis.ini}}} file should look like this: {{{ [Database] Provider=MSSQL Server=maximizer Authentication=SQL User Id=aegisuser Password=support [MSSQL:support] ClientDb=EgClient ListBoxDb=EgListBox }}} Ensure that the databases are backed up, and then run the {{{dbu.exe}}} utility to update the above mentioned databases. When logging in as a new user for the first time, opening the database may cause the error {{{ActiveX component can't create object}}}. This can be worked around by: 1. Ensure no Aegis client is logged in as the new user 1. Logging in as the new user on the Maximizer server and select the database connection settings. 1. Log out. 1. Log in as the new user on a client machine to test. ---- .
