Allphones Release 8 to Release 9 upgrade plan

UPGRADE:

1. Disable scheduled jobs for duration of upgrade.
2. Disable external access to machine while upgrade is in process.
3. Initialise dayfiles so all data is in backup directories
4. Run synchronisation scripts to copy data to backup server
5. Make backup copy of Release 8 data on second drive of live server prior to upgrade.
6. Make backup copy of Release 8 data on second drive of backup server in case problems are found.
7. Perform upgrade of data and programs to Release 9 in live environment.
8. Clear out dayfile backup directories for all companies in live environment (so are fresh for potential downgrade)
9. Test.
10. Re-enable scheduled jobs and external access for use by stores.

DOWNGRADE:

1. Disable scheduled jobs for duration of downgrade.
2. Disable external access to machine while downgrade is in process.
3. Initialise dayfiles so all data is in backup directories
4. Run synchronisation scripts to copy data to backup server
5. Convert backup log.dat and dayfiles into polling format for processing on Release 8.
6. Make backup copy of Release9 data on second drive of backup server in case problems are found.
7. Clear and replace live data with saved copy of Release 8 data from second drive of live server.
8. Process polling copies of log.dat and dayfiles into restored Release 8 data.
9. Test.
10. Re-enable scheduled jobs and external access for use by stores.
