Installing NOMACHINE (NX)

  • NOMACHINE provide FreeNX - Desktop Virtualization
  • Three parts of packages included for installation:

1. nxclient 2. nxnode 3. nxserver

  • nxserver installation has the dependency on nxclient & nxnode.

Installation of '''nxserver'''

nxserver supported platforms as:

  • Linux i386 RHEL4/5, SuSe, FedoraCore 3/4/5/6, Fedora 7

  • Linux x86_64 RHEL4/5, SuSe, Fedora

  • Solaris Sparc

After downloading packages install packages on server

#rpm -ivh nxclient-3.0.0-73.i386.rpm

#rpm -ivh nxnode-3.0.0-76.i386.rpm

#rpm -ivh nxserver-3.0.0-63.i386.rpm

Configuration

  • on server, nxserver exists on

/usr/NX/bin/nxserver

/usr/NX/scripts/init/nxserver

/usr/NX/scripts/setup/nxserver

  • nxserver can be loaded up when system boot up as

/etc/rc.d/init.d/nxserver
