USING ABE AND A PDE STOCKTAKING UNIT

Here are some instructions to use the PDE when doing a stocktake:

  1. Plug in PDE cable into the serial port

  2. Select Stocktake -> Pre-Record Stocktake Quantities

    1. Assume Recorded but not counted items are zero = Y
    2. Select the other options as applicable.
  3. Turn on the PDE unit.
  4. Select "Clear data on PDE" to ensure it is blank when you first start.
  5. Select on PDE unit "Collect Count = 1"
  6. Start Scanning all items in the store

  7. Select the icon PDE on your desktop (it allows the server to talk to the PDE unit)

  8. Plug in the PDE unit when ready to download
  9. On PDE, select "Upload Counts"

  10. Select Stocktake -> PDE Stocktake Operations -> Retrieve Counts from PDE

  11. A file name will be displayed on the screen. Press <enter> to select this file name.

  12. "Do you wish to import" = Y
  13. Once the system has imported, you should DELETE the data from the PDE unit

  14. Stocktake -> Generate Stocktake counts (although i think this happens automatically)

  15. Print a Variance Report. When you are happy with your variance report...

  16. Select -> Stocktake -> Generate Stocktake Adjustments - This will finalise the stock.
