Installing PC-Eftpos Server on Linux

The PC-Eftpos Server software is needed if the modem and the pinpad are separate units.

  1. Ensure you have the latest kernel, kernel headers, gcc and libXp
  2. Install VMware Player from www.vmware.com
  3. Run the vmware-config.pl script. Accept the default settings
  4. Stop the VMware service
    /etc/init.d/vmware stop
  5. Change to /etc/ direcotry
    cd /etc/
  6. Backup the current VMware configuration
    mv vmware vmware.orig
  7. Copy required VMware configuration across
    scp :vmwareconf.tgz ~ccc/
  8. Un-tar the file
    tar xvzf ~ccc/vmwareconf.tgz
  9. Restart the VMware service
    /etc/rc.d/vmware start
  10. Check if VMnet interface exists
    ifconfig
  11. Change to /u/cc/usr directory
    cd /u/cc/usr
  12. Un-tar the Win98 image
    tar xvjf ~ccc/WIN98EFTSRV.tar.bz2
  13. Become the ccc user
    su - ccc
  14. Edit ~ccc/.vnc/xstartup
    # Add the following line
    exec vmplayer /u/cc/usr/WIN98/WIN98.vmx &
    exec fvwm
  15. Become the super user again
    exit
  16. Edit /etc/rc.d/rc.local
    # Add the following
    ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 /dev/ttyS4
    chmod 666 /dev/ttyUSB*
  17. Restart VNC session 5
  18. Connect to VNC session 5
  19. Accept EULA for VMware
  20. In Win 98,
    1. Go to Control Panel
      1. Power Management
        1. System Standby = Never
        2. Turn off monitor = Never
        3. Turn off hard disks = Never
    2. Close the Control Panel
