Quantity In Transit

Describe the way the quantity in transit system works here ....

Changes to Quantity in Transit

aegis #9892

Problem
Under the current system, if an item is transfered using the Quantity in Transit mechanism during a stocktake, it may incorrectly update the pre record value in the sending location. For example, if an item is pre recorded and counted, and then transfered, when received it will reduce the pre record quantity resulting in a variance between the pre-record and the count.
Proposed Solution

We will introduce a new field, Stocktake quantity in transit, which will record the quantity in transit of the item at the time of the pre-record transaction. When receiving any stock other than model stock, this new field will be checked.

If it is a non zero figure, we will modify the pre-record value and the stocktake quantity in transit field by the minimum of the amount received and the stocktake quantity in transit. We will not allow this new field to become negative.

Model stock represents a special case. We will only modify the model stock stocktake quantity in transit when an IMEI is receipted. The corresponding model stock for the IMEI will then have its pre-record and stocktake quantity in transit reduced by the minimum of the amount received and the stocktake quantity in transit.

Required Changes
We will need to modify the stock record and stocktake procedure to maintain this new field
We will need to modify the process by which the transfers update the quantity in transit fields and the pre-record figures. Currently it is done on a line by line basis, however due to the fact that we now require IMEI's to update their corresponding model stock, we need to add some extra logic to handle these cases.
